For nearly 100 years, River Currents, as a student organization, has printed Illinois Valley Community College’s annual literary and creative arts publication. Each year, its student staff members solicit writing and artwork from IVCC’s student body, select and edit the finest submissions, and compile a printed literary magazine for distribution.
River Currents is proud to be a lasting record of IVCC’s talented student body, documenting the courageous efforts of those committed to bringing fine art to the campus and surrounding community while providing student editors a unique experience they can apply to future professional and creative pursuits.
The book has been published in the spring of each academic year and distributed for free to the student body and surrounding community. IVCC’s Jacobs Library archives an annual printed copy of the book.
Starting with the 2024 issue, River Currents will publish student work electronically via the website rather than as a print medium. The archive will be maintained electronically so student contributors can include their publication credit on digital resumes, CVs, and portfolios for years to come.
If you’re interested in being part of the River Currents student organization, please review the Staff Descriptions, fill out this form, and return it to Tracy Lee in room A-329.
